“It’s Life-Changing”: One Woman’s Fight Against Trafficking

by Rescue America on August 14, 2024

Greta, a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, never imagined she’d find herself on the front lines of the fight against sex trafficking. “I didn’t know much, just what I’d seen in movies, but it was something so far from my mind,” she recalls. But as 2020 unfolded, Greta felt a stirring in her heart, a calling she couldn’t ignore. By 2021, after hearing a podcast featuring Rescue America, she decided to take a leap of faith and volunteer.

At first, Greta was overwhelmed by the enormity of the problem. “I asked myself, ‘How in the world could I even help?’” But instead of letting the daunting reality paralyze her, she sought knowledge and found her way to Rescue America. Her journey began hesitantly, but quickly grew into a passion. “I was nervous, but I couldn’t not do it,” she says. “It’s the most fulfilling thing I’ve ever done.”

Greta joined Rescue America’s Outreach Hub and later became a hotline volunteer. The overnight shifts, initially daunting, became moments of deep connection. “One of my first calls was a woman seeking help. I prayed over her, shared Jesus with her, and later learned she chose to exit the life. That caught my heart.” She found joy in what once seemed overwhelming, realizing that each small act of service made a significant difference. “It’s a frontline serve, and we’re taking back the ground that the enemy has stolen,” she shares.

Greta’s message to others is clear: “If I can encourage anyone, It’s life-changing. Even if you feel like you can’t do it, Jesus is right there. Come, taste, and see that the Lord is good.”
