The Global Episcopacy Committee of the Global Methodist Church is pleased to announce updates to episcopal assignments in response to the remarkable growth of the Church on the continent of Africa.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the vast geographical size of the Annual Conference has prompted its division into six new conferences. These are: Grand Kindu, Grand Orientale, Grand Equator, Grand Katanga, Grand Kasai, and Grand Kinshasa. The episcopal assignments for these areas are as follows:
- Bishop Kimba Evariste will oversee Grand Kindu, Grand Orientale, and Grand Equator.
- Bishop Mark Webb will oversee Grand Katanga, Grand Kasai, and Grand Kinshasa.
In addition, Bishop Kimba, who resides in Katanga, will continue to serve as Conference Superintendent in that area. However, in keeping with the Global Episcopacy Committee's earlier commitments, he will not serve as bishop in Katanga or any area where he holds another office. This practice ensures adherence to our principle of impartial episcopal oversight.
Further, Bishop John Pena Auta, has been assigned to the Global Methodist Church development in Liberia, reflecting the ongoing expansion and organizational needs of the Church in West Africa.
These changes are effective immediately. We celebrate the continued growth of the Global Methodist Church and look forward to the leadership of Bishops Kimba, Webb, and Pena in these newly assigned areas.
May God continue to bless their ministry and the vibrant, faithful communities they will serve.
